Water~Stone Review features three contests - Jane Kenyon Poetry Prize, Brenda Ueland Prize for Fiction, and a yet to be named Creative Nonfiction prize (to be announced in 2011). One of these genre contests is featured each year and resurfaces again in a three year rotation.

Water~Stone Review announces the 2010 Brenda Ueland Prize in Fiction.
Ueland’s If You Want to Write (Graywolf Press) is a best-selling classic that has inspired thousands to find their own creative center.


Contest Submission Guidelines:



All submissions should be original, unpublished work.

Submissions accepted October 1, 2009 – December 1, 2009.

Fiction submissions only. Excerpts from larger works must be able to stand
on their own. Manuscripts must be typed or printed in proper format on white paper, in English, one side only. Cover letters should be brief. The author’s name, address, phone, and e-mail should not appear on the manuscript. Please send three copies of your submission. (Only one submission per person.) Maximum length: 8,000 words. Also include SASE with your submission for notification of results. Manuscripts will be recycled, not returned.

An entry fee of $15 (check made payable to Water~Stone Review) must accompany your manuscript. Entry fee includes copy of Fall 2010 issue.
